Some Tips On Packing For A Winter Vacation
If you've never been on a Winter vacation before, you might be struggling to decide on what to take with you and what to leave behind. Though packing for Summer holidays is usually quite easy, a cold vacation requires you to take all the things necessary to keep you warm and protected during your outdoor activities. If packing the right stuff is troubling you, this article might be of some use to you.
Pack several sweaters for your trip. Make sure you take thick ones, rather than thin ones, so you'll actually be warm in them. Plan to layer also. Wearing thermal shirts and T-shirts underneath your sweaters will help keep you warm all day and all night long.
Take a long coat or a waterproof jacket with a hood. This will help keep you warm and dry. If you plan on carrying lots of stuff with you, try to purchase a jacket or coat with lots of pockets.
Take shoes that have good traction and do not slip around easily. If it rains or snows where you are going, you do not want to be slipping around. Also, make sure you take a durable pair of boots with you that are made of either rubber or leather. These boots will be water resistant and will protect your feet from the cold and the rain.
Take a helmet to protect your head if you plan to go snowboarding, skiing, or participate in some other potentially dangerous Winter activity. A Giro ski helmet may be worth looking into, since they are very popular. Also, the company has been specializing in making protective head wear for many years, so they probably know what they're doing.
Buying a black helmet, as opposed to other helmets of other colors, might help you retain more heat. This is because the color black absorbs heat, rather than reflecting it. Also, black is a neutral color, so this kind of helmet will match all of your clothes.
If the location you will be staying at does not have central heating, you may want to think about taking your own space heater with you. A Delonghi space heater, for example, will warm up any space much faster than a fire.
When packing for your trip, make sure you pack everything needed to keep warm. This means you need to take lots of sweaters, a good coat or jacket, and maybe even a space heater. Don't forget your sports equipment if you're going to be skiing or snowboarding.
Cubicle situation where a co-worker has a heater turned up all day but she wears thin blouses and short skirts?
It feels like a sauna in our cubicle area. We don't have separate cubes, just one very small area for a few people, all bunched in together. We don't really have separate cubes nor walls.
She wears thin, low cut, short sleeve blouses and high, thin, sheer skirts above her knee. It's all just one, thin, sheer layer. She barely has any clothes on. Yet she claims to be so cold and won't put on her jacket or sweater or coat in the office.
So she turns up her personal heater at her desk, facing us, all day so it's like a sauna, like over 80 degrees, probably. My chocolates even melted at my desk.
What should I do? She is unwilling to forgo her personal heater because she says she's too cold at work.
Advice?
Take a poll of the people that are forced to work there. Then show her the results. Tell her, her heater needs to be turned down (or off) and she needs to wear sweaters or something to keep warm.
If that doesn't work, stay late on night and hide her heater.
