What is a Solar Charge Controller?
Solar charge controllers are required by most solar power systems that use batteries. Solar charge controllers work to control the power moving from the solar panels to the batteries. A proper charge controller will keep the batteries from being overcharged. You can visit solar power battery if you need to learn more about solar power batteries.
When the level of voltage in a battery passes a certain threshold, the charge controller will stop the charging process. In early charge controllers, this was accomplished through the use of a mechanical relay.
More recent charge controllers make use of pulse width modulation (PWM). This is a process in which, as the battery gets closer to being fully charged, the amount of power being transferred to it gradually decreases. PWM is more efficient, as it charges the batteries more fully, in addition to reducing stress on them. It can also keep batteries in a fully charged state, or “floating,” indefinitely. PWM chargers are more complicated, but they tend to be more durable, as they don’t have any breakable mechanical connections.
The latest improvement in solar charge controllers is maximum power point tracking, or MPPT. MPPT controllers offer the ability to convert extra voltage into amperage. This makes a practical difference in a couple of areas.
These features are valid for any solar power system, regardless of the voltage level involved. Charging the batteries usually takes less voltage than what most solar panels actually produce. By converting the extra voltage into amps, MPPT charge controllers reduce the time needed to fully charge the batteries, while keeping the voltage at an optimal level. This improves the overall performance of a solar power system.
Power loss is also reduced with MPPT charge controllers. As low-voltage electricity travels along wires, it can experience high levels of loss, reducing the efficiency of the system. The level of voltage generally differs in accordance with specifics within the system. MPPT controllers are capable of making use of substantially higher voltage. MPPT controllers experience less power loss because of this improvement.
MPPT charge controllers cost a bit more, but they represent a significant improvement. They’re highly recommended because of this. Preventing reverse-current flow is another feature which certain modern charge controllers possess. In some instances, at night, the batteries may start to send power back to the solar panels. This type of power loss can also make a serious dent in the overall efficiency of a solar power system. A charge controller will open the circuit when the flow of electricity from the solar panels stops, preventing any power from being transferred back to them.
Many people know that solar chargers are a good alternative to non-renewable energy sources, but not everyone is familiar with how simple they are to build. You can go to 12 volt solar charger if you are interested in learning more about the 12 volt charger.
Is it possible to build a solar panel for under $200? You can get more info by looking at this guide Homemade Energy Review. In this guide, you will get specific instructions on what is best to build based on the size of your house and your location. You will also get step-by-step diagrams on how to build your own solar power system.
How do you know when the shower control is going bad?
I have a Kohler one handle shower controller. In the last week, the mix of water has changed and at certian levels, there is an inconsistant water flow. The water comes out as if I had a massage feature. The pipes downstairs rattle when this happens. If I adjust the lever to add more hot water this stops. I don't like taking too hot showers.
Any ideas? Do I change the cartridge? is that something a semi handy guy can do?
Thanks for any help
take the shower head off and see if it does the same thing you might have a restriction in the line.try changing the cartridge.changing the mixing valve is a bigger and a head ache of a job.if the cartridge has a rubber washer on the end of it that's probably your problem.the washer probably came off and the water is causing it to flutter in the line
