Total Oral Health Care Made Possible By Laser Technology
With the continuing development of new lasers, there is an observable transformation of the practice of dentistry as patients' anxieties are waning. The laser is a state of the art device for virtually painless oral health care procedures. Many patients who have undergone dental laser procedures rave about their experience. Once a skeptic, a female patient went for cavity treatment, and to her surprise she did not feel the slightest of pain even with the absence of anesthesia. More expert dentistry information is located at dentists in sydney.
Since laser dentistry is a relatively new development, dentists are cautiously weighing their options because of the costs involved. At $40,000, the price of a hard tissue laser can be quite high for some dentists while a fair estimate of about $30,000 or less is enough to completely equip a whole dental office. Selling the idea to all dentists is not easy, but leading players in the dental community predict that there will come a time in the near future when the laser will eventually rule the dental clinic. If manufacturers perceive an increase in demand from patients, they will increase production which could help bring down prices. According to one dentist, peer pressure plays an important role.
When you deliver better dentistry, patients know and patients do tell their friends. By word of mouth, contented patients can help promote great dental service. In this age of innovations, lasers have greatly improved the practice of dentistry.
The use of the turbine drill was introduced during the 1950s. It works faster because it has a maximum speed of 150,000 rotations per minute, unlike its belt driven cousin which is also noisy and vibrating. Nothing as innovative as this has happened in the past to revolutionize the field of dentistry. For more information on dentistry check out sydney cosmetic dentist.
The pioneer class that studied high speed drills was attended by a respected leader in modern dentistry who is now the president of the Academy of Laser Dentistry. In order to fully understand how high speed drills work, the students needed to have their own drill hand piece to experience actual use of the drills. He asserts that, given a choice, you would certainly prefer a Ferrari over a Chevy.
With his first laser which he acquired in 1990, his periodontal work was made more efficient and reliable. To avoid bleeding, inflammation and stitching, the high tech device functions by cauterizing the gums and other soft tissues. While most dentists are still using air turbine drills, laser users are growing in number. If a new product is introduced in the market, it is initially met by the consuming public with skepticism, especially if it is a substantial investment.
Some dentists who still have their drills believe that the practical thing to do is to wait for the right time and the right price before buying their lasers. In most cases, anesthesia is not needed, hence saving time for both the dentist and the patient. The laser craters the tooth surface in a way that will ensure the perfect bonding of the filling material to the tooth without disturbing healthy enamel.
Is it possible to mount a telescoping boom on a round mic stand?
Is it necessary to have a tripod stand for the boom arm?
Well, sure you can. If the threads match up, the go right ahead.
Now, you obviously can't extend the boom as far with a round mic stand base as you can with a tripod. If your boom has a counter-balance on it (a weight on the end opposite the mic), that helps. But, I see that less and less on booms now.
Good luck.
